AUSTRALIA’S premier boxer has died after being struck by a car in Melbourne’s north-west.
The man, aged in his 40s, was walking to a friend’s house when he was struck by the vehicle at about 1.20am (AEDT).
Emergency services were called and he was taken to hospital, where he later died.
He was in his thirties and from Sydney.
His friend told news.com.au the car was travelling south on Swanston Street when it hit the man.
The driver was not injured.
Mr Turnbull’s office said the death was being treated as a “road traffic accident”.
The ABC has asked Mr Turnbull’s press secretary, Michael Bradley, to confirm the death.
