The NFL is one of the most offensive sports in the world, with games like the Super Bowl and World Series that feature a variety of sex games and other violent acts.
There have been a few games that have been controversial, though, and that includes the Patriots, which hosted the first “Super Bowl of the century” on Jan. 6, 1947, and played the first NFL game with “sexual fluids” in the stadium, according to the New York Times.
In the decades since, other teams have hosted “super games” where players doused each other with bodily fluids, and the New Orleans Saints hosted the 2010 Super Bowl.
In 2015, the NFL also hosted the NFLPA-sponsored Super Bowl party.
The league has a history of censoring the content of its games, which can have negative impacts on players and fans alike.
For instance, the 2016 season saw the Patriots play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a game that featured a “sledgehammer” thrown by the opposing team, which was deemed “not appropriate for a professional football game,” according to The New York Daily News.
A year later, the game’s host team was fined $3.25 million by the NFL, according the Times.
“It’s kind of hard to believe that they didn’t have any idea that it was going to be offensive,” Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski told The Associated Press.
“I think it’s a little bit of an embarrassment, really.
I think they could’ve handled it better, but they didn’s just take it to a new level.”
